…having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. HAVING DISARMED PRINCIPALITIES AND POWERS, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. (Colossians 2:13-15, emphasis mine)1
How many trespasses were we forgiven? ALL! Why? Because every sin was obliterated in the body of our Lord Jesus at the cross. If we weren’t forgiven of ALL, we weren’t forgiven at all!
The devil has been disarmed! Did you ever stop and think that this means he was armed at one time? What was the weapon? The law! The hand-writing against us! The adversary entices us with words like, “If you’ll only be good, God will love you. He’ll be pleased with you. You’ll be right with Him.” That’s when we say, “I’m already right with God by the blood of Jesus!” Reminding the forces of darkness of the blood of Jesus is a reminder of the spectacle that Jesus made of the enemy on that day and the triumph that we have in Him!
