By the offering of Jesus on the cross for us, we have been perfected. This word also means made holy, sanctified, and set apart. We have been separated from this dark world and translated into the kingdom of God’s beloved Son forever. And ever… and ever. Nothing will separate us from God’s love.

“For by one offering He has PERFECTED FOR ALL TIME those who are sanctified. And the Holy Spirit also testifies to us; for after saying, ‘This is the covenant that I will make with them After those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws upon their heart, And on their mind I will write them,’ He then says, ‘And their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.’” (Hebrews 10:14-17)1

Did you hear that? We have been perfected forever! We have been sanctified (past tense), and we are continually set apart (even now) unto God. In other words, living in this fallen world in these earthen vessels of flesh, we are still sanctified. Nothing can change it. It’s a permanent state that we live in. It’s New Covenant reality. The writer reiterates the witness of the Holy Spirit in this New Covenant as the reason we have been forever made holy: “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”
