Do you believe that you need to ask God to wash you in the blood of Jesus over and over? We don’t realize that we are actually devaluing the blood of Christ in our minds by believing such things.
In 1 Corinthians 6, Paul mentioned some of the unrighteousness things that the unrighteous do. Then he said this to the Corinthians believers:
“And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.” (1 Corinthians 6:11)
Those verbs – washed, sanctified, and justified – are all in a verb tense that means a one-point-in-time action, never to be repeated. In other words, when you were washed by the blood of Jesus, you were washed forever and now your spirit is alive in Him, cleansed of all sin, and joined to Him forever.
God wants us to have a clean conscience before Him so that we come boldly and confidently to His throne of grace.
“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)1
The Greek word for boldly, “parresia,” means “freedom in speaking, openly, without concealment, with free and fearless confidence!”2 There is no need to fear in the presence of God! Many of us are afraid of the presence of God because we are afraid our sins will be exposed, and He will judge us, condemn us, and punish us. Yet His light only shows one thing: the excellent job that His Son did in removing those sins!
