Some people don’t like to talk about the blood of Jesus, but without it, we’re still dead in our sins. What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
The importance of the blood sacrifice cannot be overstated in our study of the scriptures.
“For without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness.” (Hebrews 9:22, NLT)
Sin is lethal and has contaminated every human being since Adam. The holiness and justice of God requires that sin must be punished by death.
“The soul who sins shall die.” (Ezekiel 18:4)
Blood signifies death. When we see blood, we know that someone has either been injured or has died. Blood is supposed to stay INSIDE the body because the life is in the blood.
“For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.” (Leviticus 17:11)
Sin and death are represented by the shedding of blood.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)
“For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.” (1 Corinthians 15:22)
What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
What can make me whole again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Oh! precious is the flow that makes me white as snow;
No other fount I know, nothing but the blood of Jesus.
This is all my hope and peace, nothing but the blood of Jesus;This is all my righteousness, nothing but the blood of Jesus.1
