God made a promise to Abraham, the father of our faith; and as the seed of Abraham, God made that promise to us as well. What was the promise?
“”For the promise that he would be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.”” (Romans 4:13)
The promise to Abraham was that he would be heir of the world through the righteousness of faith. What does it mean that he was “heir of the world?” The Greek word for “world” is the word “kosmos,“ and means the earth, the universe, or “the whole circle of earthly goods, endowments, riches, advantages, pleasures.”
It simply means that this whole universe belongs to Christ, the Seed of Abraham. The Father has given all things into His hands, and because we are in Christ, it’s the Father’s pleasure to give us His kingdom. We reign in this life as priests and kings through the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness. It means we have nothing to gain and nothing to lose because we have it all, and the supply never runs dry. We inherit all that God has and all that God is. We are blessed to be a blessing! When we get this heavenly perspective, it puts this natural realm into perspective.
