When we turn to Jesus, the veil of condemnation is removed.

“But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.” (2 Corinthians 3:15-16, emphasis mine)1

Think of it this way: it would be difficult for the groom to kiss the bride if the veil was not lifted. We are His bride, and when He lifts the veil, He says to us:

“You are all fair, my love, and there is no spot in you.” (Song of Solomon 4:7)

In the Song of Solomon from which this verse is taken, the Shulamite woman whom the bridegroom pursues is a picture of Jesus and His love for and pursuit of His bride, the church. “”Shulamite”” is the feminine form of the name Solomon. Shulamite means “the perfect, the peaceful.”2 In other words, we are the reflection of the perfection and peacefulness of our Lover and Redeemer. He created a bride comparable to Himself to join Himself to. He has taken the sin away, removed the condemnation, and lifted the veil. And He loves what He sees!
