Grace is one of those words that people love making into an acrostic, such as “God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense” or “God’s Redemption At Calvary Expressed.” I like those, but when I think of grace, I think of something like a funnel of God’s goodness flowing from heaven.

The apostle Peter wrote two letters, which we know as 1 Peter and 2 Peter, to the Christians who had been scattered abroad from Jerusalem because of persecution throughout the country. In Peter’s first letter he wrote to encourage them saying,

…be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;… (1 Peter 1:13)

In Paul’s letter to the Romans, he made a very radical statement.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. (Romans 1:16)
