Paul referred to the Old Testament law as the “letter that kills,” representing a system of legalism that focuses on earning God’s favor through works. God desires us to receive His love based on His faithfulness, not our own. The Exodus period provides examples of God’s grace and His desire for us to trust and receive from Him.
